  1. In this episode, Kelly says that dogs are descended from wolves, and that no one knows exactly why and how wolves were domesticated (tamed). Explain why and how you think wolves were domesticated by early man. Make a list of other animals have been domesticated by man?
  2. Make a chart showing all the different types of services that dogs perform for man? Are some breeds of dogs better for different types of services? Explain your answer.
  3. Why do you think Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) uses Labs and Golden Retrievers for service dogs?
  4. What does Kelly say are the differences between a service dog and a pet? Can you think of some other differences?
  5. Have you ever seen a dog in a vest? Where ? What should you do when you see a dog in a vest? Why?
  6. What are some commands that Aubrey ( the dog in the video) might learn in Advanced Training? How do you think people teach dogs to do these things?
  7. From watching Aubrey in this episode, do you think she will make a good service dog? Support your answer.
  8. What are the responsibilities in raising a CCI dog? Would you like to do this? Why or why not?
  9. What other animals are used as service animals for people with disabilities? (Hint- look up Miniature horses.) Make a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting two different types of service animals.
